Revamp Cum Modernisation and Capacity Enhancement

The Company's original Ammonia/Urea of Chemico design commissioned in 1971 had become old and inefficient. The company therefore undertook a major Revamp-cum-Modernisation and Capacity Enhancement of its plants at a cost of Rs 601 Cr between 1993-1998.Technology in Ammonia was changed to Haldor Topsoe A/S of Denmark and that in Urea was changed to Urea Technologies Inc(UTI),USA. In one of the NPK Trains,Pipe Reactor Technology from Grande Parroise, France was adopted. Commercial Production from the Revamped Plants commenced from Mar 3,1998.With the commissioning of the Revamped Plants, the installed capacity has substantially been increased as below:

Record Achievement in Production & Energy

                                 Efficiency – 2004-05

Annual Urea Production of 473032 T (97.2% cap.uti.) is the highest ever since 1997 surpassing the earlier record production of 403760 T

(83% cap.uti.) during 1999-2000

Urea production of 140719 MT made during Oct-Dec 2004 is the highest ever achievement excelling the previous best production of 120210 MT during the third quarter of 2003-04

Urea production of 48918 MT in Dec 2004 is the highest monthly  production since inception surpassing the earlier record of 45630 MT      Mar 2002.

Annual average specific consumption of Naphtha /T of  Ammonia at  0.7575 is the lowest since Revamp (Previous best was 0.7783 T/T in  2003-04)

Annual average Energy Consumption/ T Ammonia at 10.411 Gcal and  /T of Urea at 7.766 are the lowest since Revamp (Previous best was 10.674 Gcal/T of Ammonia & 8.020 Gcal/T of Urea in 2003-04

Annual Ammonia Plant on stream of 340 days is the highest since revamp, the earlier record being 335 days in 1999-2000

Annual Urea Plant on stream of 320 days is the highest after revamp,      the previous achievement being 317 days in 1999-2000

Urea Plant has achieved a record 1480 T per on stream day during the   year exceeding the day’s installed capacity of 1475 T.  (Previous record: 1276 T per OSD in 1999-2000)
